PAT FRALEY DIRECTS VOICEOVER NEWBIE
At this year's International Radio Creative & Production Summit, Patrick Fraley conducted a workshop entitled GETTING FUNNY FAST: The Art of Voiceover Comedy. Pat doesn't just lecture; he teaches. He pulls people onstage to demonstrate how any voiceover artist can improve with just a little expert coaching.
When he "volunteered" this young man from among the attendees, however, Pat didn't realize that was the only non-pro in the audience. It was my nephew, a college student (philosophy major!) who was helping out behind the scenes.
He's never been behind a microphone before — which probably is why he was so easy to coach: He didn't first need to unlearn all the wrong, dumb things so many "professionals" cling to.
You'll note the less than perfect audio (and video) on this clip. When I saw Pat had pulled him onstage, I grabbed my little camera and started taping it so I could send it to my mom. But what the heck; Pat says it's okay to share with you here, so turn up your volume....

Dan,
What a wonderfully fun presentation this was at this year's Summit. And I'm delighted to see my friend Melissa Exelberth featured in this video as well as your nephew. (By the way, he was as pleasant and charming a young man as could be imagined. A great credit to your family.)
Be well,
Bob

Yeah, we're demanding a DNA test.
OMG - That was a blast!
I'll be back for another round next year - put my order in for the same partner...
