"IT LOOKS SO EASY." (Sigh)
Ever had someone say that about your job? Especially if you're a DJ, right?
Dave Foxx and I carefully compiled all the questions for Thursday's teleseminar, painstakingly prioritized them (by frequency & relevance), and a couple of days ago I spent a few hours arranging them, formatting them, numbering them....Until I had a very fancy-looking "blueprint" for the call.
Today I went to look for it, and it had vanished from my computer.
And from my back-ups.
How could it possibly disappear from my hard drive and my daily back-ups? Two of the most awful words in the English language:
"Microsoft Word"
("Yes, I really want to save that document. Yes, I'm sure I want to save it. YES, just save it already, will you??")
So I spent most of Tuesday afternoon recreating it from scratch.
(Sigh) Meanwhile, to the rest of the world it will (as it should) look so easy.....

Ah yes, "Microsoft Word". I don't get it. I find it to be THE WORST word processor app out there, short of something like Notepad.
WordPerfect has always been my gold standard, and OpenOffice doesn't make form fields quite as retarded as Word. Why can't it let me just fill in the bloody fields without protecting the whole document?? My life is a constant click of that stupid little lock button.
Hopefully ONE day corporate (north) America will wake up and smell the coffee. You're getting gouged for your software. To the tune of BILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year.
A free suite like OpenOffice will do about 99.5% of what the average person uses Office does ... and about 95% of what a serious power user will need.
And I've NEVER had it NOT save something when I tell it to. :)
