Dear Dan,

I don't get it.

I went to broadcasting school, was trained by some real good people, worked very hard at perfecting my craft, and I hear some jocks on the air that lead me to wonder where some of these guys come from. I know of one guy here in Denver that was into music, was in town visiting relatives, applied and ended up with a job at a new station. Another one started out as a producer, now he's the afternoon driver.

I don't know... actually going out and finding people to work on-air in radio? Maybe the cartoon would be more accurate if it had the suits looking at computers at Best Buy! They've already proved they don't need new talent developed, just go find tv personalities with good 'q', then let them read scripts about mindless dribble that anyone can find anywhere in the country by reading the lifestyles section of USA Today, and there you have it: A radio dj that can record mp3s and send them from his high end computer soundcard to your high end computer so that a guy with on-air dreams (the production guy) can insert the voice track in the system right after the stopset and make it magically 'walk up' the intro, hit 'the post' and sound like good vanilla radio. Hey, maybe old has-beens like myself can get some gigs using our finely honed skills to serve multiple clusters cheaply!
