A REALLY GOOD CHRISTMAS SALE COMMERCIAL

This being the holiday season and all, I thought I'd offer this as an antidote to the unrelenting negatively of my Monday Morning Commercial Smackdowns.

Produced by Rich Bird when he was at WCIL.

Hey Dan,
Just something I caught that you must have missed. In that Christmas commercial, they never said the name of the store.

He said "special" 6 times in 45 seconds (thesaurus anyone?), and yet I still have no idea what they sell or who they are.

Can you elaborate on what was so *special* (LOL) about that commercial?

@DeVill: That was the idea. It's a completely generic commercial that says nothing -- not even who they are or what the heck they sell.

But it's done in such a typical by-the-number fashion that it's possible for some people to hear it and not realize it's not a real commercial.

I still don't get it.

Is it a spec spot to sell to an advertiser who would then mention what they sell and the name of their company, or was it just for the sake of filling in 30seconds of airtime, or was there a different reason for the spot?

And what about the monotony of saying "special" over and over instead of spicing it up with synonyms?

@ Devill: It was a joke, made for the amusement of other radio people but never aired.

Oh.
No wonder....
Okay. LOL

When I look at it from that angle, I can see what you mean.
